Softball Recap: Central Extends Winning Streak to 13

Central extended their winning streak to 13 on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 17-1-1 in the process. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Edison Tigers a 4-0 shutout. Four seems to be a good number for the Grizzlies as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The result came thanks to Kaia Galaviz's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kalena Olmos was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Ella Bakholdin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Edison, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season. The shutout was out of character for they seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

On Edison's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-4 victory against Clovis East on the 22nd. As for Edison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-4 win against Sanger West on the 23rd.
