Softball Recap: Canyon Comes Up Short

Canyon lost against Saugus back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cowboys fell just short of the Centurions by a score of 5-4. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jessica Carr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Isabella Heasley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Canyon now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Saugus, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-4.

Looking ahead, Canyon will face off against West Ranch at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Cowboys surely won't give up without a fight. As for Saugus, they will take on Valencia at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Centurions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
