Softball Recap: Dunnellon Starts Season with Win Against Belleview

Dunnellon had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Belleview Rattlers on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 4-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Makayla Duncan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks. Those a hit gave her a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Dunnellon's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Joiner, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Coming up, Dunnellon will look to defend their home field on Friday against Umatilla at 7:00 p.m. As for Belleview, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-4 defeat against Citrus on the 20th.
