Basketball Game Preview: Green Mountain Rams vs. Golden Demons

Green Mountain and Golden are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Green Mountain Rams will challenge the Golden Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Green Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Tuesday, Green Mountain got the win against Conifer by a conclusive 65-44. The squad ran away with 56 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

Simon Lunsford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. The game was his third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Swanson, who posted ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Green Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conifer only racked up seven assists.

Meanwhile, Golden played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Dakota Ridge, falling 89-56. The Demons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-30.

Green Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Golden, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Green Mountain was able to grind out a solid victory over Golden when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 55-46. Does Green Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Golden turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
