Newark came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Somonauk Bobcats 55-33. The Norsemen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season.

Newark's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cody Kulbartz, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Kulbartz is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Reggie Chapman was another key player, putting up 18 points and six steals.

Newark's record is now 7-3. As for Somonauk, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Newark will take on Timothy Christian in a tournament on Friday. As for Somonauk, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Woodland at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2026.
