Baseball Recap: Rhea County Takes a Loss

If Rhea County was riding high fresh off their 17-9 takedown of Notre Dame last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rhea County Golden Eagles fell just short of the Red Bank Lions by a score of 9-7 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Golden Eagles have suffered since April 12, 2024.

Casen Kinney stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Jax Schmitt also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Rhea County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Red Bank's record is now 6-4.

As for Red Bank, they will head out to square off against Walker Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Bank is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
