Softball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Serena's Fourth in Last Five Outings

13 must be Serena's lucky number: they beat Ashton-Franklin Center with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Huskers beat the Raiders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-2. The Huskers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by ten runs or more this season.

Jenna Setchell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Brynley Glade was incredible, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of RayElle Brennan, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Serena hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive contests.

Serena is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-24.

Serena wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Somonauk on the 5th. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 loss against Morrison on the 6th.
