Softball Recap: West Blocton Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, West Blocton couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 4-1 to the American Christian Academy Patriots on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-6 loss on April 3rd.

Raylin Irvin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Crimson Calhoun was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mafynli Kidd, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

West Blocton's loss dropped their record down to 26-12. As for American Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 29-15 record this season.

As of now, neither West Blocton nor American Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
