Basketball Recap: Delanee Duncan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Hudson

Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hudson Cobras. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-24 back in November of 2024.

Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Delanee Duncan, who posted eight points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Felicia Taylor, who earned seven points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Hudson found their leader in freshman Layla Richardson, who had eight points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Those five assists gave Richardson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah McCloud, who put up five assists and five steals.

Central's record is now 4-20. As for Hudson, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-14.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Nature Coast Tech the next time they take the court. Central will host Nature Coast Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Hudson will head out to face them on Tuesday.
