Baseball Recap: Cherokee Trail Cougars vs. Douglas County Huskies

After a string of four wins, Cherokee Trail's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They suffered a tough 19-9 defeat at the hands of the Douglas County Huskies. Cherokee Trail was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Douglas County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Akoi Burton and Braedan Reichert did some serious damage despite the final result: Burton scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Reichert scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Ceyrolles, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

On Douglas County's side, Dylan Langstaff looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also only allowed one walk).

Cherokee Trail will be playing in front of their home fans against Grandview at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Grandview will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Douglas County, they will head out on the road to take on Dakota Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
