Football Recap: Bixby Starts Season with Victory at Home

Bixby gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They breezed past the Owasso Rams to the tune of 49-21. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.

Carson Kirby had an outrageously good game as he threw for 256 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 46 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (156.3). Bixby's leading receiver Braeden Presley was Kirby's top target yet again, picking up 125 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Bixby didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Owasso to a completion percentage of just 43.6%. The team can thank Nathan Hobbs for the heroic effort on defense: he. Given Kirby's standout performance, it's clear Owasso's secondary just wasn't on the same level.

When it comes to explaining why Owasso lost, don't look at Jayden Hall. Despite the final result, he rushed for 150 yards and one score on only 15 carries. Hall's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Another player making a difference was Drew Frankenfield, who threw for 181 yards and a pair of TDs.

Coming up, Bixby will square off against Charles Page at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Owasso, they will face off against Jenks at 7:30 p.m. on the 5th.
