Basketball Recap: Malad Skates Past Aberdeen with Ease

Malad extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 15-2. They blew past the Aberdeen Tigers 59-31. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Malad got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikell Keetch out in front who posted 12 points and five steals. That's the most steals Keetch has posted since back in January of 2025. Brynnlee Jones was another key player, shooting 40% from the field en route to 17 points.

Malad was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aberdeen only posted five.

As for Aberdeen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Malad is ranked tenth).

Despite the loss, Aberdeen still got an impressive performance from Karlee Brown, who earned 12 points and eight rebounds. Brown is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Coming up, Malad and Wendell will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. The Trojans have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Aberdeen, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Butte County at 7:00 p.m.
