Football Recap: Monarch Comes Up Short Despite Mariah Jourdan's Big Defensive Game

Monarch fell victim to Denver North and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost to the Vikings at home by a 18-0 margin.

Monarch didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Mariah Jourdan led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by herself. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.3 interceptions per game.

Denver North can attribute much of their success to Lea Gentry, who rushed for 73 yards and one score on only five carries, and also threw for 85 yards and a pair of TDs. Gentry got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 50 yards.

Monarch's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Denver North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Monarch wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 31-0 win against Denver West on the 4th. As for Denver North, they will challenge Thomas Jefferson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
