Softball Recap: Plainfield Panthers vs. St. Bernard Saints

Plainfield was the 6-5 winner over St. Bernard when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Plainfield Panthers lost 10-4 to the St. Bernard Saints on Wednesday. Plainfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For St. Bernard's part, Katy Scribner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Scribner has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Aubree Nygaard was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Angelica Tompkins, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Plainfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for St. Bernard, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-6.

Plainfield will be playing at home against Montville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Bernard, they will head out on the road to face off against Stonington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
