Baseball Game Preview: Nooksack Valley Pioneers vs. Oak Harbor Wildcats

Nooksack Valley hasn't had much luck against Oak Harbor recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pioneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m.

Nooksack Valley couldn't beat Sehome on Wednesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the second inning. The Pioneers fell just short of the Mariners by a score of 8-7. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 20, 2018, but that streak is no more.

Trevek McMillen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Oak Harbor waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Borderites get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Oak Harbor's victory was all the more impressive since the Borderites were averaging only 3.06 runs allowed on the season.

Oak Harbor's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Nooksack Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Nooksack Valley might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Oak Harbor when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
