Baseball Game Preview: Monsignor McClancy Crusaders vs. Xaverian Clippers

Monsignor McClancy is 1-9 against Xaverian since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Crusaders will host the Clippers at 4:15 p.m. Monsignor McClancy has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monsignor McClancy is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Archbishop Molloy, falling 11-2.

Xaverian came out on top against Holy Cross on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Clippers put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 12-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Clippers.

Jude VanOoyen looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Danny Cronin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Lucas Zafra was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Xaverian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Xaverian's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Monsignor McClancy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Monsignor McClancy was able to grind out a solid victory over Xaverian in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, winning 8-3. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Clippers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
