Baseball Recap: Lakin's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Lakin had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Southwestern Heights Mustangs 14-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Broncs considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Dru Patterson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Patterson was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lakin let Adrik Gomez and Gabe Cox run wild. Gomez got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI, while Cox went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Cox has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayden Johnson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

The victory snapped Lakin's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-5 record. As for Southwestern Heights, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9.

As of now, neither Lakin nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
