After losing to Oconee County the last time they met, Monroe Area decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Purple Hurricanes took down the Warriors 35-21  on Friday. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Purple Hurricanes.
 Monroe Area didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Parker Sims and  Kenzi Battle. Monroe Area got some further help from  Dacian Davis: he picked up  two  sacks, made ten total tackles (4.0 for loss),  and defended one pass.
 Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Brody Hannah, who threw for 227 yards and three  touchdowns.
Monroe Area's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Oconee County,  the  loss snapped their winning streak at five games  and leaves them with a 6-3 record.
 Coming up, Monroe Area will challenge West Hall at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Purple Hurricanes will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.89  points per  game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Oconee County, they will take on Jefferson at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Dragons' defense has only allowed 9.4  points per game  this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
