Softball Game Preview: West-Oak Warriors vs. Belton-Honea Path Bears

The West-Oak Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Belton-Honea Path Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Belton-Honea Path will be up against a hot West-Oak team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand Walhalla an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Abi Blackwell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, West-Oak let Brylee Whitfield and Abigail Satterfield run wild. Whitfield went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Satterfield got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run was Whitfield's first of the season. Cassie Stoltzfus was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

West-Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Belton-Honea Path made sure to put some runs up on the board against Pendleton on Tuesday. The Bears blew past the Bulldogs 11-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

West-Oak's record is now 10-3. As for Belton-Honea Path, their record now sits at 19-3.

West-Oak came up short against Belton-Honea Path in their previous matchup back in March, falling 4-1. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
