Softball Recap: Cuero Gobblers vs. Wimberley Texans
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Cuero couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Wimberley Texans by a score of 9-8 on Friday. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Gobblers who fell 7-5 when the teams previously met back in April of 2016.
Julianna Cox led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kendal Broll, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Cuero's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-8-1. As for Wimberley, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-16.
Cuero does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wimberley, they will head out to square off against Zapata at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Texans will need to watch out since the Hawks have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
