Basketball Recap: Petal Comes Up Short

Petal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 62-49 to the Hattiesburg Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Tigers are ranked 40th).

Petal's defeat dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Hattiesburg, they pushed their record up to 18-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Petal Panthers duke it out with the Meridian Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meridian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Petal surely won't give up without a fight. Hattiesburg has already played their next match, a 69-61 win against Jim Hill on the 31st.
