Baseball Game Preview: Cannon County Lions vs. Middle Tennessee Monarchs

The Cannon County Lions will take on Middle Tennessee Monarchs in a tournament on Friday. Cannon County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Cannon County came up short against White County and fell 8-5.

Andrew Alexander was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Fritts, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Middle Tennessee Monarchs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since March 3rd.

Middle Tennessee Monarchs saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathaniel Keyston, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Middle Tennessee Monarchs' defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Cannon County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Cannon County couldn't quite get it done against Middle Tennessee Monarchs in their previous matchup back in April of 2018 as they fell 7-3. Can Cannon County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
