Softball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Bishop Blanchet Bears

Roosevelt is 8-2 against Bishop Blanchet since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Roughriders will be playing at home against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Roosevelt will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Roosevelt had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Nathan Hale on Tuesday. The Roughriders were the clear victors by a 20-2 margin over the Raiders. The Roughriders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.

Gretchen Harder made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Roosevelt got a massive performance out of Samantha Wright, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three hits gave Wright a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Lee, who scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Bishop Blanchet suffered their closest loss since April 22, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Ballard by a score of 8-6. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Beavers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Bishop Blanchet, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
