While West Potomac's win against South County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. West Potomac narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past South County 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Bennett Winkelfoos looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, West Potomac's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jeremy Focht, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

The victory got West Potomac back to even at 1-1. As for South County, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, West Potomac will head out to square off against Woodson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South County, they will take on Saint John Paul the Great Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
