Basketball Recap: Hoopeston Comes Up Short

Hoopeston lost against Westville back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hoopeston Cornjerkers took a 61-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westville Tigers. The Cornjerkers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Hoopeston lost, don't look at Brayden Walder. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 14 en route to 18 points. Trenton Montez was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to 12 assists and five rebounds.

Hoopeston's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Westville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 21 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoopeston will face off against Watseka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hoopeston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Westville, they will challenge Schlarman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
