Kings Mountain and Crest are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Mountaineers are taking a road trip to face off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Kings Mountain took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Madison 4-3.

Gavyn Manion tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kings Mountain saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Groves, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Crest waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Hilltoppers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kings Mountain pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Crest, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.

Kings Mountain came out on top in a nail-biter against Crest in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Mountaineers repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
