It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mira Costa had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Arlington Lions a 2-0 shutout. The Mustangs are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 25 straight.

Mira Costa pushed their record up to 27-2 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-8.

Looking ahead, Mira Costa will square off against Arcadia at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 1.8, the Apaches 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Arlington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
