Matoaca has gone 9-0-1 against Petersburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Crimson Wave at 6:00 p.m. Matoaca's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Matoaca sidestepped Glen Allen for a 3-2 victory. Given Matoaca's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Glen Allen are ranked 223rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Petersburg's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Prince George, falling 3-0.

Matoaca's win bumped their record up to 8-3-1. As for Petersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-1.

Matoaca beat Petersburg by a goal in their previous matchup back in April, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
