Basketball Game Preview: James F. Byrnes Rebels vs. Dorman Cavaliers

James F. Byrnes and Dorman are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The James F. Byrnes Rebels will be playing at home against the Dorman Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

James F. Byrnes will head into Tuesday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Spartanburg on Tuesday. James F. Byrnes blew past Spartanburg 70-44. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Dorman faced Gaffney in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Dorman came out on top against Gaffney by a score of 60-49.

James F. Byrnes better keep an eye on Morgan White. She was instrumental in Dorman's win, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. White's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Barlow, who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points.

Dorman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

Dorman is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for James F. Byrnes, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

James F. Byrnes didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Dorman when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 64-60 win. Will James F. Byrnes repeat their success, or does Dorman have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
