League recap: Walkertown extends winning streak with victory over Rocky Mount Prep

1A Conference 5 recap September 17, 2013

Walkertown extended the longest winning streak in 1A Conference 5 this week by beating Rocky Mount Prep, 56-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Wolfpack.

Bishop McGuinness took down Wheatmore 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Andrew Rowley threw for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 23 yards during the win.

Mount Airy's dynamic duo of LOGAN HOLDER and DEVONTAE DOBSON proved tough for North Surry to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. HOLDER threw for 234 yards and 2 touchdowns and DOBSON had 118 yards receiving.

The Bears' dynamic duo of HOLDER and DOBSON proved to be unstoppable against the Greyhounds, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Greg Salomon was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 100 yards on 11 carries as the Villains topped North Surry. Teammate Joe McNamara added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.

HOLDER put up the best numbers through the air as the Bears defeated Danny Lyons' team.

He was 9-16 with 2 interceptions.

DOBSON was the best wideout in the league this week as Mount Airy bested the Greyhounds.

6-foot-0 quarterback HOLDER of the Bears is the league leader in passing yards this season with 540. He has also thrown 4 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jonah Slate. The North Stokes star has 15 catches for 220 yards.

Mount Airy and North Surry played the closest game in 1A Conference 5 this week, with Mount Airy eventually emerging with a 30-27 victory. HOLDER in the win.
