Baseball Recap: Hampshire Gets the Win

The Hampshire Trojans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lewis County Minutemen 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Channing Wilt was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Ethan VanMeter was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Hott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Hampshire kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Hampshire's record now sits at 7-12. As for Lewis County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Hampshire will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Minutemen: the pair will be back at it again later today.
