Baseball Recap: Escalon Find Success

Escalon proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 13) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hilmar Yellowjackets 2-0. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Josh Fiori, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Hilmar off the board. That's the most strikeouts Fiori has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Escalon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Huebner, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Dylan Ball also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Escalon's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Hilmar, they moved to 9-1 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Escalon will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hilmar: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
