Softball Recap: New Hampton School Huskies vs. Kimball Union Academy Wildcats

New Hampton School extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They came up short against the Kimball Union Academy Wildcats, falling 22-4. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.

Danika Virgin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Hernandez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

As for Kimball Union Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Kimball Union Academy's side, Adi Runge made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Runge was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Runge is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Stella Kozak was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Zoie Stevens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. New Hampton School is set to challenge their familiar foe Tilton School at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Kimball Union Academy will square off against rival Northfield Mount Hermon at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
