Volleyball Recap: Paintsville Beats Johnson Central for Their Third Straight Victory

Paintsville had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Johnson Central Golden Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Golden Eagles last Monday, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Paintsville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was McKinley Ramey, who had 13 digs and two assists. Those 13 digs gave Ramey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bentley Smith, who had six digs and four aces.

Paintsville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive matches.

Paintsville's record now sits at 17-10. As for Johnson Central, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-10.

Coming up, Paintsville will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Martin County at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Johnson Central, they will head out to challenge Knott County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
