Softball Game Preview: Warsaw Tigers vs. Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies

For the second straight game, Warsaw will face off against Plymouth. The Tigers will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Pilgrims/Rockies at 5:30 p.m. Warsaw is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Warsaw hadn't beaten Plymouth on the road since April 23, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Pilgrims/Rockies 8-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Kaitlyn O'Dell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Warsaw let Raegan Robinson and Mia Rodriguez run wild. Robinson went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Rodriguez went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave Rodriguez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addyson Sainer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Warsaw kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Plymouth is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9. As for Warsaw, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Plymouth's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Warsaw has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Plymouth, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Warsaw's sizable advantage in that area, the Pilgrims/Rockies will need to find a way to close that gap.
