Recap: Austin Maroons vs. Bowie Bulldogs
After a string of three wins, the Austin Maroons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 64-39 defeat at the hands of Bowie. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Austin has suffered against Bowie since January 3, 2020.
Several Maroons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jill Shirk, who scored six points along with five steals. Evelyn Young was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Austin's loss dropped their record down to 13-18. As for Bowie, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Johnson the next time they take the court. Austin will head out to face Johnson at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Bowie will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
