Softball Recap: Chatham Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Chatham dropped their record down to 8-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Bethlehem Central Eagles by a score of 2-1. The Panthers were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matches prior), but the Eagles' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Bethlehem Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Bethlehem Central's part, Molly Campbell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. Campbell has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bethlehem Central's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Katherine Sauders, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Looking ahead, Chatham will host Catskill at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bethlehem Central, they are taking a road trip to face off against Niskayuna at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
