Basketball Recap: Clay-Chalkville Takes Down Ranked Hewitt-Trussville

On Thursday, Clay-Chalkville faced Hewitt-Trussville in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Clay-Chalkville Cougars came out on top against the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies by a score of 62-54. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskies, too.

Clay-Chalkville is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-10.

Clay-Chalkville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hewitt-Trussville, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Vestavia Hills at 7:30 p.m. on March 5th.
