Baseball Recap: Taylor Starts Season with Win at Home

Taylor gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They blew past the Lake Mary Prep Griffins 13-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jace Harcus and Alex Ramos did most of the damage at the plate: Harcus went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Ramos scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave Harcus a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Roberto Mancilla, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Looking ahead, Taylor will host St. John Lutheran at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Mary Prep, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Orlando Christian Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Mary Prep has now lost nine straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 12.
