Basketball Recap: New Buffalo Comes Up Short

New Buffalo was the 43-39 winner over Watervliet when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The New Buffalo Bison were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 28-27 to the Watervliet Panthers. The Bison have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

New Buffalo's loss came despite strong showings from Peyton Swain and Addison Lynch. Swain posted eight points and nine boards, while Lynch had five points and six rebounds. Swain is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Emma Seifert also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Watervliet's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabella Bultema, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Bultema a new career-high in rebounds. Courtney Van Lente was another key player, putting up five points along with eight boards and three steals.

New Buffalo's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Watervliet, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.

Looking ahead, New Buffalo will take on Eau Claire at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Watervliet has already played their next contest (against River Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
