Volleyball Recap: Shadyside Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Shenandoah, Shadyside was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Buckeye Local Panthers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-17, 25-15.

Shadyside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ali Weatherson led the charge by getting six digs, three aces, and one block. Weatherson is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. Addasyn Melanko was another key player, getting six digs, six aces, and five kills.

They weren't the only good server: Shadyside was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. They are 3-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Shadyside's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Buckeye Local, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Shadyside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Caldwell on the 8th. As for Buckeye Local, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Harrison Central on the 8th.
