Basketball Game Preview: Sumner Tigers vs. Calais Blue Devils

Sumner hasn't had much luck against Calais recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Sumner Tigers will be playing at home against the Calais Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Monday, Sumner was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-41 to George Stevens Academy.

Meanwhile, Calais didn't have quite enough to beat Machias on Tuesday and fell 42-40. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Calais' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Sumner, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Things could have been worse for Sumner, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-49 loss to Calais in their previous meeting back in December of 2024.
