Lincoln hadn't done well against La Jolla recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 20-8 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by eight runs or more this season.

Leyahniah Paleafei was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nyema Curtis, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for La Jolla, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13.

Lincoln didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 27-14 loss against Southwest SD on the 12th. As for La Jolla, they have also already played their next game, a 26-7 win against Hoover on the 16th.
