Basketball Recap: Wrangell's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wrangell). They strolled past the Petersburg Vikings with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 47-33. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Wrangell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexis Easterly, who posted 17 points. Easterly continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Cook, who put up 12 points.

Wrangell's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Petersburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wrangell will welcome Haines on Friday. As for Petersburg, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Unalakleet on February 1st.
