Baseball Recap: Pungo Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Pungo Christian Academy extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 12-8 in the process. They lost 11-4 to the Ridgecroft Rams. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rams this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-3 defeat back in March.

Pungo Christian Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Byrd, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Ridgecroft, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-6. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Ridgecroft's side, Lucas Cutchins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Cutchins has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ridgecroft let Landon Woodard and Ben Francis run wild. Woodard went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Francis got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Francis is becoming a predictor of Ridgecroft's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Dawson Collins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

As of now, neither Pungo Christian Academy nor Ridgecroft have any future games scheduled.
