Basketball Recap: Asheboro's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Asheboro had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 39-34 win over the North Davidson Black Knights on Tuesday. For the Blue Comets, this counts as revenge for the 74-54 victory the Black Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Asheboro found their leader in sophomore Adalynn Scherer, who went 6 for 13 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Laneane F Scherer, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Asheboro's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-16. As for North Davidson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Asheboro will head out to take on Ledford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Davidson, they will challenge Central Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
