Softball Recap: Davenport Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lake Gibson

There's no place like home for Davenport, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top against the Lake Gibson Braves by a score of 9-4 on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 back in March.

Ashanti Pagan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Madison Bergeron was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Duran, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The victory got Davenport back to even at 9-9. As for Lake Gibson, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davenport will take on Avon Park at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Lake Gibson, they will face off against Winter Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Braves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
