Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Yulee's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Yulee won the last time they faced Middleburg and things went their way on Monday too. The Yulee Hornets took down the Middleburg Broncos 77-63.

Yulee found their leader in sophomore Chase Cannone, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ben Newby, who posted 12 points.

Yulee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Middleburg's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Floyd Reed, who went 7 of 16 en route to 20 points and four steals, and Brady Ryan, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points and six boards. Sawyer Hampton was another key player, putting up six points.

Yulee has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Middleburg, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Yulee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 61-48 win against Ridgeview on the 15th. As for Middleburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-34 defeat against Baldwin on the 14th.
