Preview: West Catholic Burrs vs. Cristo Rey Philadelphia Blue Pride
The West Catholic Burrs's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Cristo Rey Philadelphia Blue Pride at 3:30 p.m. on December 31st. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
West Catholic's 20-10 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were outmatched by Bergen Catholic on the road and fell 86-53. While losing is never fun, West Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 217th in Pennsylvania, while Bergen Catholic is ranked second in New Jersey).
Despite the defeat, West Catholic had strong showings from Xavier Fauntroy, who scored 21 points, and Myles Moore, who scored 22 points. That's the first time this season that Fauntroy scored 15 or more points.
Meanwhile, Cristo Rey Philadelphia had to suffer through a rough 74-45 loss at the hands of Friends' Central. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cristo Rey Philadelphia in their matchups with Friends' Central: they've now lost four in a row.
West Catholic has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Cristo Rey Philadelphia, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
