Softball Game Preview: West Liberty-Salem Tigers vs. Triad Cardinals

For the second straight game, West Liberty-Salem will face off against Triad. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

It was a proper cat-fight when West Liberty-Salem duked it out with Triad on Monday. The Tigers came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 6-2.

Kennedy Wallace made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Collins, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Kiersten Stoll was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

West Liberty-Salem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triad only posted a batting average of .222.

Triad is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for West Liberty-Salem, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Liberty-Salem has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Triad struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
